What about your body are you grateful for?
After watching a documentary last night about ME/CFS, I have to say that I am thankful for the ability to move. While I struggle with my mental health, malaise, and headaches, I am still able to move on a regular basis without pain. Many people don’t believe in ME/CFS, but it is real. It’s not hysteria or hypochondria or insanity. It’s a condition that effects your immune system AND your brain. This documentary kind of made me realize how much we take advantage of the ability to walk, go in the sunlight, or even get out of bed in the morning, or at least most mornings. It was a really enlightening documentary and I recommend it.
I was, actually, unaware that this even existed. Even reading the short description before playing the movie I said to myself, “Hey, I’m always tired and think something is definitely not normal with me. I can relate to this.” I can’t; at least not on the level of those in the documentary.
While writing this question down when I made the 2-part list, I was thinking ‘oh I’m probably going to say something about my appearance’. I’m glad I chose a different answer. My answer better reflects my mindset and the empathy I possess as a human being. Life is more than just fat/thin and having a pretty face.
