Begin a good habit. Break a bad habit.

The good habit that I’ve started is becoming vegetarian! There are a couple of reasons why. One, I should be on a high alkaline diet due to my stomach issues. If you’re not familiar with a high alkaline diet, here is a diagram. The human body is typically around 7pH, or neutral, but every body is different. Blood is between 7pH and 8pH, while your stomach is between 3pH and 4pH, very acidic in order to break down food.

My body does not do well with anything acidic and I am usually incapacitated for the remainder of the day. The meats that I would eat are in the range of 3pH and 6pH. Therefore, they can be very acidic and can easily upset my stomach. My diet should be 7pH to 14pH with limitations on any wheat or gluten. Two, I have begun studying Buddhism, meditation, Enlightenment, etc. The Ten Commandments of God is a set of biblical principles in Christianity and Judaism. Like Christianity, Buddhism has a set of principles & commitments called The Ten Cardinal Precepts. The first Cardinal Precept is “Not to kill, but to cherish life“. This refers to any living beings and animals. This is the first thing I want to be successful in when it comes to Buddhism because I want to cherish all life and be grateful for everything around me. These are the two main reasons.

I have two bad habits that I really need to break. The first is biting and picking at my nails constantly. I don’t know why I do this. I find that it is usually out of boredom and not stress, but I’m not completely sure. The second is feeling the need to have some sort of junk food, sugar, or chocolate after meals, or after eating anything salty really. This has gotten automatic for me, I usually don’t think about it, I just grab something full of sugar immediately after I eat. This is something that was ingrained in me while I was little. My dad also does this, but definitely not as bad and he actually works out haha. I don’t. Both of these are going to be so hard to constantly be aware of, but I’m up for the challenge. Lets face it, my nails and fingers are horrid looking!
